FRANCO SOTILLO
United States | Contemporary Art & Surrealism
Born in Lima, Peru, Franco Sotillo creates art that explores the intersection of inner consciousness and the external world. His paintings reflect the complex relationship between personal identity, perception, and the ever-changing energies that shape the creative process.
Inspired by Latin American folklore, spirituality, mythology, and the concept of freedom, Sotillo incorporates geometric forms and surrealist imagery into his compositions. Horses, celestial bodies, and symbolic elements become visual expressions of his fascination with creation, particularly the ancient belief in humanity’s origins through the Sun God.
For Sotillo, painting is both an act of creation and a form of meditation. Each composition captures the shifting emotions, thoughts, and energies experienced throughout the artistic process, revealing a dialogue between the conscious and subconscious mind.
Sotillo studied graphic design at Toulouse Lautrec in Lima, Peru, and further developed his artistic practice through Edith Sachs Contemporary Art School, master classes with visual artist Jaime Higa, and the Boca Raton Museum of Art School in Florida.
